               What's a foundation?

According to Wikipedia, a foundation is a skin-coloured makeup applied to the face to create an even, uniform colour to the complexion, to cover flaws and, sometimes, to change the natural skin tone. Some foundations also function as a moisturizer, sunscreen, astringent or base layer for more complex cosmetics. Foundation applied to the body is generally referred to as "body painting" ...

How to choose the perfect foundation?

First thing, when choosing a foundation, we have to pay attention to our skin type, is it dry, oily, or combination skin?
↠ For dry skin, it's recommended to choose oily base foundation, serum-like texture or a thick one, that does not leave dry patches on the skin after application.

        Some foundations for dry skin:
  • Drugstore: Revlon ColorStay Makeup For Normal/Dry skin (9,98$), L'oréal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Foundation Makeup (12,95$), Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy+smooth foundation (5.94$), Cover Girl CG Smoothers All day Hydrating (6,94$) ...
  • High-end: Tarte Maracuja Oil Foundation (42$), Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat (
55$),  Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (64$), La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation (220$) ...

↠ For oily skin, pick a liquid, and matte and oil-free foundation, or mousse textured one, it will stay a lot more than the thick ones, and it won't leave your face shiny and greasy throughout the day.
  • Drugstore: Revlon Colorstay Foundation Oily/Combination Skin (9,98$), Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Foundation (7.99$), L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation (12,99$), NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation (14,97$) ...
  • High-end: Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation (56$), Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup(42$), Dior Skin Forever Perfect Foundation Broad Spectrum (50$) ...

For combination skin, I personally recommend using a semi-matte foundation that helps you keep your skin looks flawless and dewy without showing the dry patches.
  • Drugstore: Revlon ColorStay Makeup For Combination/Oily skin (12.99$), L'oréal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation (9.79$), Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless Foundation (5.94$) ...
  • High-end: Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Long Wear High cover Foundation (64$), Chanticaille Future Skin Foundation (78$), Marc Jacobs Beauty Genius Gel Super-Charged Oil-Free Foundation (48$) ...

How to choose the right shade?

First, you have to figure out which tone your skin has .. cool, warm, or neutral tone.

There are lots of methods to do so but I 'll give you the easiest one: look at your arm wrist veins: Blue veins mean you are cool toned; green veins, warm-toned, and a mix of both means you have neutral skin tone.
